Acting Chief Executive Officer
Shepard is currently UNOS' Acting Chief Executive Officer
Prior to serving as Acting Chief Executive Officer, Shepard served as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Shepard managed UNOS operations conducted in support of the OPTN contract, including policy development, member evaluation and peer review, communications and information technology tasks.
Shepard joined UNOS in 2010 as Director of Policy after serving 15 years in various high-level positions in Virginia state government, including the Director of Policy for the governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In that position, Shepard worked directly with the governor to help identify and implement the policy priorities of the Commonwealth.
Shepard holds a bachelor's degree in history from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg.
