UNOS Helps Author ISHLT Journal Article

A UNOS board member and several staff members were among the authors of "The Second Pediatric Report of the ISHLT Registry," which appears in the January edition of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.

The pediatric report contains information on 3,857 heart, 397 heart-lung and 434 lung pediatric transplants through the end of 1997. The report found that for pediatric heart recipients, the half-life for survival (the estimated time point to which at least half of the patients survive) is 11.4 years; for pediatric lung recipients, the half-life is 4.5 years; and for pediatric heart-lung recipients, the half-life is 8.3 years.
