Transplant Living Site Wins Web Award
UNOS' recently enhanced Transplant Living Web site (www.transplantliving.org) has won a bronze award from the World Wide Web Health Awards in the category of patient education and information for the autumn of 2003.
Transplant Living, which was vastly upgraded in October 2003, offers transplant candidates and recipients an unprecedented volume of practical and scientific resources relating to organ transplantation--all of which are reliable and constantly updated to keep patients informed. It includes detailed information on issues such as pre- and post-transplant therapies and medication, financial resources, updated news and features, and community outreach events and opportunities. Its content is guided by an editorial board of patient representatives and transplant healthcare professionals to ensure the information presented is accurate, unbiased and understandable.
The World Wide Web Health Awards are issued twice yearly by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. The Web-based health awards are an extension of the HIRC's National Health Information Awards, the largest program of its kind in the United States.
