Lisa Schaffner Named Volunteer of the Year
Lisa Schaffner was honored today as Volunteer of the Year by the Central Virginia Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals at its annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon.
Schaffner has been public relations and marketing director at United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) since September 2008 when she left her very visible role as evening anchor on the Richmond ABC affiliate WRIC-TV. Since joining UNOS, Schaffner has created the wildly successful United for UNOS fundraising event, the third of which was just held at The Gallery at UNOS, another Schaffner creation, on October 14.
It is Schaffner’s role in the community for which she is being honored. She serves on eight non-profit boards and donates her evenings, weekends, breakfasts, lunches and dinners to causes she loves. Schaffner has participated and donated her time to numerous organizations over the last 25 years, in many ways, including as Mistress of Ceremonies, walk chair, motivational speaker, marketing chair, board member, media expert, moderator, judge, contestant, model, fundraiser, and lecturer.
