Director Software Engineering

The Director, Software Engineering is a member of the IT Leadership Team and is a direct report to the Chief Information Officer/Assistant Executive Director. This position has responsibility for the software engineering team. The incumbent has extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and data-bases according to current and future design specifications. Ability to build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envisions improvements to the architecture. Has Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) organization experience with the achievement of a CMMI level 3. Understands, supports, and has implemented the quality improvement model.

TIME (%) AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


30% Strategic Leadership
Partners with functional leadership to analyze, consult, drive, develop and oversee the delivery of new business applications and features, technology partnerships and information projects which support key functional objectives and strategies.
Participates in strategic planning processes, defining a technical strategy for the Software Engineering Division.
Establishes and implements applications based on corporate architecture direction and ensures the applications can be easily maintained and supported by the maintenance and support teams.
Ensures that product architecture and technology decisions support corporate strategies and future direction of the products.
Identifies both strategic opportunities and potential threats associated with emerging technologies and executes software development plans that ensure all products remain best of breed.
Drives focus on modularity and scalability in software design. Delivering software solutions with seamless interface between different component parts, appropriate logging and debugging framework, ease of use hooks for testing automation.
Identifies and evaluates software acquisition opportunities and leads buy-vs-build decision –making process.
Interacts with executive management on development issues.
Coordinates with product management, as well as test, documentation, and product maintenance and support management to ensure that the needs of all projects in the product line are met.Assists product management by providing technical insight and judgment of feature/schedule/cost tradeoffs.

30% Quality Leadership
Provides leadership in the area of quality improvement utilizing failure mode and effect analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and continuous process improvement techniques.
Responsible for implementing efficiencies and best practices for the team and increasing the organization’s CMMI level.
Responsible for setting software engineering quality objectives, monitoring, reporting on metric status, achieving quality objectives, and selecting new targets that increase the quality within the organization.
Continuously appraises the quality processes and practices of the software development organization through objective metrics and charts course for improvement.

15% Talent Management Leadership
Sets direction, develops and monitors individual objectives, and leads the team.
Develops and maintains quality staff by hiring skilled personnel; developing succession plans; providing training opportunities, evaluating and managing. performance, delegating responsibility; and administering corporate policies.
Determine path to reaching necessary competencies for the functions performed in the team and develop associated career plans in conjunction with team members.
Work with Human Resources to develop, and implement a strategy to acquire new resources from the market and for exiting non-performing resources.
Develop a strategy and plan to assimilate new staff with the functions performed in the team. Implement the strategy and take responsibility for developing and maintaining a plan to assimilate new staff with the functions performed in the team.

15% Financial Leadership
Participates in the establishment of business and financial plans and budgets for UNOS IT.
Responsible for budgeting, tracking and monitoring the expenditures within the Software Engineering group proactively addressing any variances.
Proactively communicate to the CIO any financial or budget concerns.

10% Policies, Procedures, Methodologies, and Standards
Ensure that best development processes and technologies are used in the design, construction and implementation of applications and shared services
Responsible for ensuring that the repository for application configuration, code and reusable components stays current.
Provides direction and consultation to technology teams in support of the business applications. This includes leading and coordinating activities throughout development and ensuring the appropriate use of standard models and software packages, standard methods of integration, as well as, the development of common application services.

Education: Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience (Masters preferred). Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) preferred.

Experience: 10+ years experience in the software industry, 5+ years managing technical teams in the software development area. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft products: .Net, C#, SQL, CMMI level 3

Talent Manager

The Talent Manager is responsible for managing the design, implementation, communication, measurement and administration of the organization’s talent acquisition and retention programs. The Talent Manager ensures that all talent programs align with current and future staffing needs, operate cost effectively and efficiently and support the organization’s strategic goals. Additionally, this position counsels leaders on employee relations issues, performance management, career development and employment practices. The Talent Manager continually reviews talent acquisition and talent management best practices recommending to the AED, CHRO any changes to existing programs. Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, information systems or related field is required. PHR or SPHR certification desirable. Minimum of seven years experience working in human resources with at least five years experience in talent management and employee relations. Must have strong experience in all facets of talent acquisition including recruiting information technology employees, on-boarding and employment branding. Demonstrated track record on taking initiative, handling multiple priorities and effective problem resolution, Knowledgeable of changes in current regulations and legislation that impact human resources programs. Must have experience utilizing automated talent management systems. Strong communication, critical thinking, analytical, computer and problem solving skills. Requires excellent organizational, interpersonal and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to initiate and improve processes and programs. Ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.



Support Engineer III

The Information Technology department seeks a Support Engineer to provide hardware, software, and telephony support as it relates to end users and applications. Install and configure end-user applications and desktop hardware, and assist with scheduled backups and maintenance. Assist in the configuration and tuning of current and new applications. Ensure compliance with software licensing and safeguarding of IT assets. Create and maintain process documentation. Assist with providing guidance, leadership, and mentoring for team. The candidate must have a minimum of four years of demonstrated hardware and software troubleshooting experience. Four year degree or equivalent experience. This position requires 24/7 on-call on a rotational basis and occasional out-of-town travel. The ideal candidate will have:
Strong knowledge of Active Directory (moves, adds, deletes, assigning permissions, etc.)

In depth knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) plus proven experience in creating, deploying, and maintaining system images with SCCM.

Experience with migrating from Windows XP to 7 highly desired.

Strong hardware/software diagnostic skills.

Strong communication skills both written and verbally.

Demonstrated experience working in a formal project structure.

Demonstrated ability to lead small teams in projects or coordinated work efforts.

Strong organization skills to prioritize work, balance and lead projects
PBX knowledge and experience a strong plus but not required; experience migrating to Lync Server unified communications also desired



Compliance Auditor Supervisor - RN Required

The Evaluation & Quality department seeks a Compliance Auditor Supervisor to supervise and provide guidance for all compliance auditor activities related to on-site, desk and special reviews of transplant programs and organ procurement organizations (OPOs). R.N. required, Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience required. Supervisory experience highly desired. Working knowledge of principles and technical methodology of auditing, utilization review, quality improvement, and patient safety strongly preferred. Self-directed, detail oriented professional with excellent organizational skills required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required. Ability to multitask and consistently produce quality work under stress and demanding deadlines required. Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills and work methods required. Superb oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills required. Ability to effectively contribute and collaborate group projects with other staff required. Experience in conflict resolution and team building required. Project and case management skills preferred. Focus on customer service to continually enhance member satisfaction with the surveyor review process required. Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of UNOS management and the medical community required. Computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Overnight travel required.


Enterprise Security Manager II

The Information Technology Department is currently seeking a level two Enterprise Security Manager. The duties this individual will perform are focused around the development and maintenance of UNOS’ IT security stance as a healthcare IT provider and a Federal Government contractor. Four year degree or equivalent required. Minimum of four years of domain experience in Application Development, Database Administration or Operations Engineering and at least two years of experience ensuring compliance with security and privacy practices. Must have a working knowledge of applicable best practices and regulations and demonstrated ability to apply and monitor those practices across the enterprise. Must have an understanding of one of the domains of customer support, maintenance design and maintenance development. Network administration experience is also advantageous as is experience working with compliance tools such as Nessus and IDS/IPS systems.


Infrastructure Architect

The Information Technology Department seeks an Infrastructure Architect to develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and physical architecture. They have responsibility for all strategic and/or enterprise-wide infrastructure. Additionally, they will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. They also must maintain extensive ties with security, delivery, maintenance, data and governance functions in the organization. Four year degree or equivalent experience. Two plus years of infrastructure design experience. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of infrastructure architecture principles and practices. In addition the candidate must have a working knowledge of one of the following additional architectural domains: database architecture; application architecture or security architecture.



SAS Analyst

Make a difference in a rewarding field and great work environment. UNOS is a rapidly growing, dynamic organization and a leader in the development of the transplantation industry. The Research Department seeks two SAS Analyst to provide programming support and database management in team-oriented environment. Must have BA or BS including major or significant coursework (or experience) in Statistics, Computer Science or mathematics or an equivalent level of professional SAS programming experience. Expert knowledge of BASE SAS, Data-step programming, and key PROCs (such as FREQ and PRINT). Working knowledge of SAS applications/software such as use of macros, SQL, SAS ODS, SAS GRAPH, TABULATE and/or REPORT PROCs. At least three years of SAS programming required. 2-3 years experience with large medical databases preferred. Must have excellent oral and written skills, be self-motivated and able to work independently, and work well under pressure.


Technical Architect III

The Information Technology Department is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong architectural and design skills in Microsoft technologies. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, you will collaborate with business representatives and technologists to create initiatives to address the business needs. You will provide strategic direction for systems configuration and interoperability by evaluating vendor products, conducting proof of concepts and building proto-types. You will also be responsible for coordinating the improvement of design and development standards. You will document development requirements for applications, databases, and operational systems. You will consult with end users to test and debug applications to meet client needs. You will provide consultation on complex projects and are considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. You must have clear and effective verbal and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills. You must be self-motivated leader and possess strong organizational and problem solving skills. A four-year degree is required or equivalent experience with minimum of 4 years, but preferably 6 years of related architectural and design experience.


Registered Nurses - Compliance Auditor

Registered nurses with compliance or transplant experience: are you ready for a change? UNOS is a Richmond based corporation that administers the National Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network. The Evaluation & Quality Department is currently seeking Living & Deceased Donor Compliance Auditors to work in our Richmond, Virginia office. In this position you will conduct on-site reviews at OPTN Living Donor & Deceased Donor transplant programs to assess compliance with OPTN/UNOS policies and bylaws. RN required, BSN preferred or equivalent experience. Experience in transplantation desirable. Experience in conducting medical record reviews and analyses preferred. Working knowledge of the principles and technical methodology of auditing, utilization review, interviewing, quality assurance, and patient safety strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex medical issues and conduct basic investigations. Ability to creatively problem solve and proactively adapt work processes to proactively address imminent issues. Superb oral and written communication skills including public speaking skills. Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills for interaction with all levels of UNOS management and the medical community. Computer skills. Overnight travel required.
