Jimmy A. Light, M.D., FACS, is director of transplantation at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
A previous member of the OPTN/UNOS board of directors, he also has served on the OPTN/UNOS membership and professional standards and patient affairs committees. Dr. Light was the founding secretary of the South-Eastern Organ Procurement Foundation (SEOPF), also serving as SEOPF president. He currently is a member of the faculty for HHS’ Breakthrough Collaboratives.
Dr. Light is on the board of directors and medical advisory board of the Mid-Atlantic End-Stage Renal Disease Network; he is past chair of its transplantation subcommittee. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Washington Regional Transplant Community and its executive and finance committees.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
