Mark D. Stegall, M.D., is chair of the division of transplantation surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He also is a practicing kidney and pancreas transplant surgeon and is active in clinical transplant research.
Dr. Stegall formerly chaired and currently serves on the OPTN/UNOS kidney transplantation committee and its kidney paired donation program work group. He also is chair of the net lifetime survival benefit subcommittee of the OPTN/UNOS kidney transplantation committee's kidney allocation subcommittee (KARS). He was a member of the joint work group for MPSC [membership and professional standards committee] process improvement.
Dr. Stegall is co-chair of the American Transplant Congress (ATC) planning committee and a member of the standards committee of the American Society for Transplant Surgeons (ASTS).
He earned a medical degree at Columbia University in New York City.
