Michael E. Hagan, D.O., M.H.S.A., is director of quality improvement at Gift of Life Michigan.
He is a liver recipient (1999) and a donor uncle, also in 1999.
Dr. Hagan has been a member of the OPTN/UNOS organ availability committee and the OPTN/UNOS donor service area (DSA) task force. He also served on UNOS' national speakers bureau.
He recently completed a term on the board of directors of the Coalition on Donation, serving on its communications committee. He is a founding member of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) of Michigan and has served as the chapter's vice president. He appeared with his donor family as a guest on ABC's "Good Morning America" and currently is working with a screenwriter to produce a movie of his story that also will promote donation.
He earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Chicago Osteopathic Medical School and a master's degree in health services administration at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
