Mithchell Henry

Mitchell L. Henry, M.D., is chief of the division of transplantation, deputy director of the comprehensive transplant center and professor of surgery at Ohio State University in Columbus.

A recent member of the OPTN/UNOS board of directors, he currently serves on the OPTN/UNOS kidney paired donation program work group, the DonorNet rapid response task force and the review board (liver) from his region. He has served as a member of the OPTN/UNOS operations committee, focusing on pulsatile preservation, and on the OPTN/UNOS membership and professional standards committee and its data subcommittee and joint subcommittee on membership criteria. He also has served on the OPTN/UNOS organ procurement organization and kidney and pancreas transplantation committees and on the pancreas transplant work group.

Dr. Henry is a councillor at large of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and a member of its nominations committee and bylaws committee, previously serving as chair. He also has served as chair of the ASTS education committee and standards of organ procurement committee as well as co-chair of the ASTS abstract review committee and a member of the ASTS scientific studies committee. He is the past chair of the living donor kidney exchange program committee of the Ohio Solid Organ Transplant Consortium and a member of the patient selection committee for pancreatic/hepatic transplantation at Ohio State University Medical Center as well as of the MedImmune kidney pancreas transplant advisory board. He also has served as medical advisor to the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska in Omaha.
