Director of Transplant Services

Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is seeking a new Director of Transplant Services. Lourdes is a member of Trinity Health, a nonprofit Catholic health system with greater than 92 hospitals in 22 states and $15.9 Billion in yearly revenue. Lourdes is the only hospital in Southern New Jersey to provide transplant services, offering kidney, pancreas and liver transplantation. The center’s strong outcomes are the result of an integrated team of highly skilled and experienced medical professionals. Transplant surgeons, nephrologists, and hepatologists team with nurses, technicians, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists  and other staff to deliver an exceptional level of care  and patient experience at each stage of the  patient’s evaluation, transplantation, and post-transplant care.  The program takes pride in its support of transplant patients and their families.  The Center was first in the region to perform a kidney transplant through paired exchange. The Center’s volume of kidney and pancreas transplants has grown substantially in the past few years.


Position Summary:   The Transplant Director will serve as the operational and strategic leader by promoting a professional practice environment that enables the multidisciplinary team members to provide patient care excellence that enriches the patient experience and assures superior patient outcomes.  The Director will have responsibility for program development, budgeting and finances, and compliance with regulatory guidelines set forth by UNOS and CMS including their policies, procedures, and programmatic requirements. The Director provides necessary oversight to the kidney, pancreas and liver transplant programs’ support staff, which include transplant coordinators, social work, nutrition, and pharmacy.  The Director promotes a culture within the program consistent with the Lourdes Health System mission, vision and values.                                                    

Minimum requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care administration, or a related field with experience in transplantation preferred. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:  3-5 years leadership experience in transplant, healthcare system management, or nurse management. Experience in CMS and UNOS audits is preferred. Experience in kidney and liver transplant program development and/or management is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess:

*         Progressive leadership experience with service line leadership and a demonstrated ability to grow a service line in a complex environment

*         Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to build relationships among, physicians, staff and patients

*         The ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects

*         Effective analytical, financial and marketing skills

A manager or director with other health care management experience who has the appropriate skills and passion to direct the product line will be considered.
