Saint Luke’s Hospital is seeking a BC/BE transplant nephrologist to serve as Medical Director of its kidney transplant program. Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City has 611 beds and is one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in the region. Its network of more than 600 physicians represents more than 60 medical specialties. Saint Luke’s Hospital is a primary teaching hospital for
the University of Missouri-School of Medicine. It is a winner of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; is recognized by U.S. News & World Report in numerous areas; and is nationally known for innovation, research, and patient care.
The candidate will be responsible for the direction of the kidney & kidney-pancreas transplantation program including clinical trials and kidney transplant related clinical forums. The candidate will also be responsible for the development of a combined kidney-pancreas transplant program. The kidney transplant program will fall under direction of the Abdominal Transplant Institute along with gastroenterology and hepatology. Anticipated effort distribution is 85% patient care, 10% administration, and 5% teaching.
Candidates should have strong clinical skills and will be responsible for clinical operations, research programs and training of
fellows, residents and students. Candidates for this position should have excellent organizational and communication skills. He or she should be articulate, approachable, and collaborative. It is important to develop strong partnerships with the members of our developing Transplant Institute and other constituencies. The candidate will also be an active participant in the patient selection conferences.
The successful candidate must:
be board certified or board eligible
have ACGME Accredited Residency Training
have Transplant Fellowship Training, UNOS / AST-certified
have or be eligible for a Missouri/Kansas Medical License
Preference will be shown for candidates with a minimum of two or more years of experience. Academic appointment at the University of Missouri Kansas City (Assistant or Associate Professor) is anticipated. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
